White House's Dirk Forrister Joining Environmental Defense Fund
The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) today announced that Dirk Forrister, current chairman of the White House Climate Change Task Force, will join the organization in April as director of EDF’s national Energy program. Forrister will be based at EDF’s Rocky Mountain Office in Boulder, Colorado and will also work on global climate change.
“EDF is extremely pleased to have Dirk on board as director of our national Energy program,” said EDF executive director Fred Krupp. “He brings to EDF a wealth of experience in climate change and energy issues. As Chairman of the White House Task Force on Climate Change, he has helped to lay the groundwork for national and international efforts to confront the problem of global warming. Dirk will be a valuable addition to EDF’s energy and climate efforts.”
Before heading the Climate Change Task Force, Forrister served as a special assistant for policy to Energy Secretary Hazel O’Leary and as Assistant Secretary of Energy of Congressional, Public and Intergovernmental Affairs.
With more than 3 million members, Environmental Defense Fund creates transformational solutions to the most serious environmental problems. To do so, EDF links science, economics, law, and innovative private-sector partnerships to turn solutions into action. edf.org
